The Story Behind Wander by Frame

Hi, I’m Kat — your outdoor photography bestie.

Adventure lover. Mom. Wife. Coffee lover. Sunset view kind of person.

I was born in Czech Republic — right in the heart of Europe. Now New Zealand is home for our little family.

Every free moment? Outdoors. With our toddler who loves adventure just as much as we do. Beautiful, messy, and sometimes a little challenging. Just like outdoor photography itself.

I created Wander by Frame to help adventurous beginners feel more confident with their camera — and take photos they’re actually proud of.

My Story as an Outdoor Photographer

How photography became part of my life

As a kid, I always wanted to travel and explore. That never really went away.

When Kuba came into my life, we started spending more and more time in the mountains. And I fell in love — with the views, with the feeling, with the whole experience of being out there.

Photos are memories. Proof that the adventure happened. That the moment was real.

For a long time, my phone was enough. But at some point — it just wasn’t. I wanted more. I wanted to actually capture what I saw and felt.

That’s when I picked up a real camera. And that’s where the real journey started.

It all started with a borrowed camera.

In 2018, Kuba and I moved to Canada for nine months. Incredible places. Incredible moments. And I couldn’t capture any of it.

I had a borrowed camera I didn’t know how to use. I got frustrated. Put it down. Grabbed my phone instead.

I definitely regret that now.

So I kept figuring it out on my own.

The desire to capture it all was stronger than the frustration. So in 2021, I bought my first mirrorless camera and started learning properly. Or tried to.

I tried workshops. Disasters. Masterclasses from big photographers. Even bigger disasters.

And that’s why you’re reading my story — because this is about outdoor photography when the conditions are not always perfect.

That's exactly why I created Wander by Frame.

The moment things clicked wasn’t in the mountains. It was at my computer. Editing.

I kept asking — why do some photos work and some don’t? That’s when I finally understood light. And one clear subject in every frame.

It took me years. It didn’t have to. That’s why I’m here to help you with your photography path.
